There was a request that the wife not find out about the husband’s credit (so he could order her a new bedroom set)… that the husband not find out that the color they had chosen together would arrive “by mistake”… and that the installers would not come to nail up the living-room furniture for her birthday… Through work, whatever it may be, people always encounter some demands that are good (read: well-intentioned) and those that are less good (read: we’ll be the ones to take the blame).
And so… we built almost the entire house for a young, harmonious married couple. Everything to measure. And they… love each other… and truly truly respect each other! Did I say they love and respect each other? He has a gym, and by chance I train there. I wouldn’t use names, so I’ll write He and She with capital letters…take that as a name. ?
So one day he brings some rather small WC cabinet and shouts straight out, “Ubrk,” as the good Bosnians would say, directly like that (maybe a little frightened too): “CAN YOU FIX THIS, BUT SO THAT THE DIFFERENCE CANNOT BE SEEN.” I look at it like… damn… I don’t get it. Who? What? He says: “She’s pregnant!”, and He would not want her to worry even the least bit or get upset about anything. Hey man, don’t worry, everything will be just fine.
I don’t know why, but our painter objected the most. He can’t “AS IF” pull out a new lacquer so that it looks like the old one. Sale, look here, I say… “This has to be the way it was!!!” I remember he suggested we paint it white, then put the hams on the smoked ones, so it would pick up a little yellowing.
Today, after half a year, a little girl was born. Healthy and overjoyed, in that parental setting. Did I say overjoyed?
