Wood fiber boards are made from softwood and hardwood. Waste from the production of boards, plywood, as well as from various wood processing is most often used for their production. The shredded wood is cooked in large volume tanks, then ground and treated with various binders and antiseptics, after which it is shaped in hot pressing presses. Pressed panels have a rectangular shape and a constant thickness.

These panels are widely used in industrial and building construction as heat and sound insulation material for walls, ceilings and roofs. These panels can also be used for cladding walls, making built-in furniture, doors, etc.

Types and application of plates

Panels are divided into insulating panels, which are used for sound and thermal insulation of walls and ceilings; insulation-cladding, which are used for internal cladding of walls, panels, etc.; semi-hard and hard, which are used for interior cladding of walls, ceilings and partition walls. Hard boards can be used to make doors, built-in furniture, etc.

Dimensions and permitted deviations

The maximum width for all types of plates is 1200 mm, while the length is 3600 mm. The thickness of the insulation boards is 12,5; 20 and 25 mm; insulation-cladding 10 and 12,5 mm; semi-hard 6 and 12,5 mm; hard 3 and 5 mm.

Deviations are allowed in width ± 5 mm; in length ± 10 mm; by thickness: for insulation ± 1,5 and for insulation-cladding ± 1,0 mm; for semi-hard and hard ± 0,5 mm.

The basic indicator of the physical and mechanical properties of the plates are given in table 15, and the indicators of the external appearance of the plates in the table 16.

Indicators of external appearance

Indentations and protrusions are allowed for all classes in the total area up to 40 cm² and a maximum of 3 pcs. on 1 m². The fibers on the edges must not be longer than 25 mm to the end of the board. The length of the sides of the deflected corners along each edge of the board should not exceed 50 mm.

Surface treatment

The panels are well glued together, covered with cut veneer, painted, varnished and polished.
